It’s funny how a bit of sunshine makes the world a more beautiful place.
The first picture is the sun, bouncing off the impressive architecture of Sheffield’s new indoor market. The second is a beautiful stretch of canal on my way home. It could be anywhere when the sun shines upon it, when in reality it’s pretty grim [it’s where the “car island” scene from the Full Monty was filmed!!]

Forgive the picture of a potty full of tiddle but today has been a massive achievement for Edith.
Having refused for months to use the potty [she knows exactly when she needs to go, just won’t do it in anything other than a nappy] we finally had a breakthrough just after tea.
As her reward, she chose a prize from “Edith’s Potty Prize Area” [the Doctors idea] and was very proud of herself.
He she is with her prize on, proving that swimming goggles can make even the cutest kids look a little bit special.

21st July 2014

As a case of mine was pulled at the last minute, I decided to make use of our new flexible working conditions by only working 4 hours and finishing at 11:00.
After a warm ride home, I was in and changed [into a vision in linen] by midday and we had set up base camp in the park by 13:00.
We were joined shortly after by my Mum & Dad [who obviously didn’t get chance to relax in the sun] for football, golf, tennis and badminton. And running. Lots of running!
It was all too much for Aud, who had to have half an hour before tea time.
If only all Mondays were this much fun!

20th July 2014

Mini Milks and Chocolate Chip Ice-cream with Ice Magic* topping.
Old school puddings all round.

*the stuff that sets hard [if you leave it long enough, which I never do]

19th July 2014

Inevitably, it’s belted it down all day today; the first day of the 6 week holidays.
So we amused ourselves with crafts and the measuring of grandparents.

18th July 2014

School’s out in the Roebuck household.
Karen starts her six week summer holiday today, which means our childminder, Kate, starts hers.
I’ve noticed there’s wine chilling in the fridge already.

17th July 2014

The first harvest of our homegrown spuds.
From earth to mouth in under half an hour. Adding a sprig of homegrown mint, a knob of butter and eating with our alfresco BBQ tea made for a perfect end to the afternoon.

You know you’ve reached a certain point in life when you’re wearing Marks & Spencers linen shorts…….donated by your Dad.

A brilliant early evening trip to Greno Woods with @japdwarf for a spot of Downhill action. Sadly the evening was cut short by Jenks’ spectacular “off” having landed a jump in the direction of a particularly large tree! So, we swapped the Pub Run for a trip to the pub to ease his pain.
“If you don’t fall off, you’re not trying hard enough”

13th July 2014

A grand day out at the Emergency Services Fun Day. Police Dogs, birds of prey, rides, ice cream, circus skills, brass bands and bike powered smoothies; all in the afternoon sun!

12th July 2014

A sunny day with absolutely nothing to do but relax and have fun; the rarest of days.

11th July 2014

Real life Social Media.
Today I met @johngreen21 who I sort of know through Twitter [although Mrs R has met him as he’s a fellow teacher and has been to his house, as his wife Louise has hosted one of Karens craft afternoons]. Anyway, I digress.
John is a fellow cyclist and we realised that we cycled the same route to work, but in opposite directions.
We realised this by having a near ‘was that you who rode past’ miss, one Friday afternoon.
Ever since, our paths have failed to cross until today, giving us the opportunity to have a chat.
And I can report that he’s a thoroughly nice chap.
As we are blokes, this potential photo of the day opportunity wasn’t considered so here’s a picture of me on my garage roof, straight after getting off the bike!

Edith had a doctors appointment today, so whilst there we mentioned her legs. She’s been complaining of pains when trampolining and on a couple of occasions, her legs appeared to have ‘given way’ beneath her.
The doctor thinks it’s just cramps, due to lack of hydration [made worse by the hot weather].
So, she’s been told to drink plenty, do some warm up exercises but to carry on trampolining for the exercise it provides.
Who would have thought that playing out at 3 years old was so serious!
