Too many silly drinks last night has left me feeling rubbish today, despite promising Karen that I would behave.
As I’ve been so useless, I’ve spent most of the day in here. Not quite a house, but you get the idea.

Head wetting, VIP crisps and next-day-ruining drinks. Nothing can go wrong!

Tonight I accompanied my mate Cully when he went to see a Pole about a bike. Now he’s got his first proper bike I can’t wait to get him out on the proper trails [none of this towpath rubbish anymore mate]

On my way home I popped in to see my mate, and bike mechanic, Mark in his new business premises.
It’s always a good day when a bike spares and repairs outlet is opened 0.6 miles from your front door!!

Drivingtoworkaftereighteendaysoffwork face. When the alarm went off at 05:50, it felt like I’d woken up in the middle of the night!
The only thing to put a smile on my face today was Karens home made Jaffa Drizzle Cake at tea time.

After 18 days of annual leave, I’m back to work tomorrow and todays weather matched my mood.
A period of welcome relief from the doldrums was provided by a visit from the France family.
Harrumph.

Not a photo but a video today as I was nominated to do the Ice Bucket Challenge.
My Facebook feed is full Ice Bucket Challenge videos so I hope the associated ALS / MND / Cancer charities are getting plenty of well deserved cash.
I chose to support Macmillan. If you enjoyed my video [and my fetching cossie], you can do the same by texting ICE to 70550. Ta x

Poor old Olive. From the peace, quiet and relaxation of the kennels, straight into being “loved” by the girls

The last supper; prolonging the inevitable end of our holiday.
There were tears at both ends of the generation.

21st August 2014

Today we got lost in a maze and terrified the girls with animatronic dinosaurs at Woodthorpe Mill.
We then saw the most amount of fish under one roof I have ever seen. There were thousands. Well, two less than thousands as we came away with ‘Nemo’ and ‘Woody’ as a present for Edith to celebrate her cracking the potty training.
Whilst there, I was tremendously brave, getting close enough to photograph a hideous spider.
We rounded off the day with an evening walk / run along the dunes.

20th August 2014

It doesn’t rain in shops.
Karen and my Mum went shopping to Louth, leaving me and my Dad to look after the girls.
This was fine, until the heavens opened and forced us indoors. I found out that my enthusiasm for”Dress up Dolls” was finite.
It seems the rain didn’t spoil the shopping; Karen came back looking sheepish but blamed my Mum for encouraging her.

19th August 2014

Today was spent passing on my childhood holiday memories to the girls, by visiting Sutton on Sea.
It was cloudy and a bit windy but when the sun wasn’t obscured, it was glorious.
The girls enjoyed sandcastles, aeroplanes and collecting shells. I did what all Dads are required by law to do on the beach; I dug a big hole.

18th August 2014

Bad weather prevented an early departure so my Dad entertained the girls with a “Ballet Show”
I’m sure he’ll thank me for capturing the event on film.
Finally, the rain passed and we were able to get some fresh air with a visit to Rimac Nature Reserve.

17th August 2014

An old skool day at the seaside. The pressure was on and my parenting skills were put to the test when we found a 2p machine with Frozen merchandise* up for grabs!

*marked “Disney Vietnam”; the stamp of authenticity.

16th August 2014

It would appear we are a family who enjoy the simplest of holiday pleasures. The kids loved the playground, I loved playing with K’Nex and we were all amused by my Dads big potato. [Although I don’t think my Mum was amused at being forced to pose for the “cutting of the big potato”]
